The Fledglings

The Fledglings operates as a Good early years setting with effective safeguarding and strong foundations across all areas. The inspection used the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management), all graded Good. These have been mapped to the November 2025 7-area framework as follows: Quality of Education maps to Curriculum and Teaching (Good, 75) and Achievement (Good, 75); Behaviour & Attitudes maps to Behaviour, Attitudes and Establishing Routines (Good, 75); Personal Development maps to Children's Welfare and Well-being (Good, 75); Leadership & Management maps to Leadership and Governance (Good, 75). The setting demonstrates particular strengths in SEND support, staff training, communication and language development, and parent engagement. The primary area for improvement identified by the inspector is ensuring all staff understand the nursery's curriculum intent and how this translates to their daily practice, which currently results in inconsistent knowledge-building for some children. Inclusion, while not explicitly graded in the legacy report, is evidenced as strong through the SEND provision and is scored at Good (75). The setting's trajectory is stable at Good with clear potential to reach Strong Standard across multiple areas through targeted curriculum implementation support.
