Kids Planet Shortwood Lodge received a Good rating across all areas in its first inspection (August 2025). The setting demonstrates strong foundations with effective safeguarding, good quality of education, positive behaviour support, and solid leadership. The report uses the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management), which has been mapped to the November 2025 7-area structure. Two key improvement areas have been identified: (1) supporting quieter children to develop social confidence and peer interaction during free-flow play, and (2) providing increased opportunities for children to develop independence skills during daily routines and transitions. The setting has a knowledgeable staff team, strong parent partnerships, and a well-sequenced curriculum, positioning it well for progression to Strong Standard across multiple areas.
