Ashbourne Day Nursery at Birmingham Central Nursery has made significant progress since the previous Inadequate rating in June 2025, achieving a Good overall effectiveness rating across all four legacy framework areas (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management). The new leadership team has successfully embedded a curriculum focused on firm foundations, with strong observation and assessment practices, good parent partnerships, and effective safeguarding arrangements. Mapped to the November 2025 framework, the nursery demonstrates Expected Standard performance across most areas, with particular strengths in Safeguarding (Met), Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines (Good = 72), and Leadership/Governance (Good = 72). Two specific areas require targeted improvement: inconsistent differentiation of activities for children at different developmental stages, and limited outdoor curriculum planning for babies and younger children. These gaps prevent the nursery from achieving Strong Standard in Curriculum and Teaching (currently 70) and Achievement (currently 70).
