Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Houghton Regis

Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Houghton Regis received a Good rating across all areas in its first OFSTED inspection (January 2025). The nursery demonstrates strong safeguarding arrangements, effective leadership with good staff support, and a well-sequenced curriculum that builds on children's individual next steps. Staff interactions are warm and responsive, with particular strengths in language and communication development. The primary area for improvement identified by the inspector is the outdoor learning environment for pre-school children, which is in early stages of development and currently limits engagement and concentration compared to indoor provision. This report uses the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management); findings have been mapped to the November 2025 7-area structure: Safeguarding (Met), Inclusion (Strong Standard), Curriculum and Teaching (Strong Standard), Achievement (Strong Standard), Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines (Strong Standard), Welfare/Well-being (Strong Standard), and Leadership/Governance (Strong Standard).
