Purple Lion Day Nursery (Benfleet)

Purple Lion Day Nursery received a Good rating across all areas in its first OFSTED inspection on 7 January 2025. The report was conducted under the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management), which has been mapped to the November 2025 7-area structure. The nursery demonstrates strong safeguarding practices, good teaching quality, and excellent staff morale with high parental satisfaction. The setting is small and homely with skilled, caring staff who know children well and tailor learning to individual interests. Key strengths include effective settling-in procedures, positive community links, and robust health and safety practices. The two main areas for development are: (1) extending the curriculum to challenge the most able children more consistently, and (2) strengthening staff questioning techniques to allow children more thinking time and opportunities to solve problems independently. These represent opportunities to move from Good to Strong Standard across Curriculum and Teaching and Achievement areas.
