Elm Cottage Nursery at Brookfield

Elm Cottage Nursery at Brookfield received a Good rating across all four legacy framework areas (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management) in December 2022. This report uses the pre-November 2025 framework and has been mapped to the new seven-area structure. The nursery demonstrates strong curriculum planning, excellent communication and language support, effective safeguarding, and supportive leadership with emphasis on staff well-being. Two specific areas for improvement were identified: developing children's awareness of others and their impact on peers (particularly turn-taking and sharing), and strengthening planning to ensure all children achieve high levels of engagement and involvement in activities. The setting is well-established with experienced staff including two early years teachers, and benefits from specialist SENCO provision and on-site catering.
