Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Hertford received a Good rating across all areas in its first routine inspection (January 2024). The report used the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management), all graded Good. These have been mapped to the November 2025 7-area framework: Safeguarding (Met), Inclusion (75), Curriculum and Teaching (72), Achievement (75), Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines (76), Welfare/Well-being (78), and Leadership/Governance (77). The nursery demonstrates particular strengths in SEND support, staff well-being, communication/language development, and emotional regulation. Two specific areas for improvement were identified: refining group activities in the toddler room to support less confident children, and better planning during routine transitions (mealtimes, home time). The overall score of 75 reflects solid Good performance with clear opportunities to move toward Strong Standard (80+) through targeted interventions.
