Elmscot Day Nursery and Nursery School received a Good rating across all four areas of the legacy OFSTED framework (October 2022). This report has been mapped to the November 2025 seven-area framework as follows: Quality of Education maps to Curriculum and Teaching; Behaviour and Attitudes remains Behaviour, Attitudes and Establishing Routines; Personal Development maps to Inclusion and Children's Welfare and Well-being; Leadership and Management maps to Leadership and Governance. The nursery demonstrates strong foundations with highly qualified management, effective safeguarding arrangements, and excellent parent engagement. Children make good progress from their starting points, and the setting prioritizes communication and language development alongside physical development. The two key improvement areas identified by the inspector relate to teaching quality and child-led learning: staff should plan activities with sharper focus on learning objectives, and allow children more time to solve problems independently rather than intervening too quickly. These findings suggest the nursery is positioned well for progression to Strong Standard across most areas with targeted professional development and pedagogical refinement.
