Outdoor Owls - Richmond

Outdoor Owls is a forest school nursery rated Good across all areas in the August 2022 inspection (pre-November 2025 framework). The report used the legacy 4-area structure (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management), all graded Good. These findings have been mapped to the November 2025 7-area framework as follows: Quality of Education maps to Curriculum and Teaching (Good); Behaviour and Attitudes remains Behaviour, Attitudes and Establishing Routines (Good); Personal Development maps to Inclusion and Children's Welfare and Well-being (Good); Leadership and Management maps to Leadership and Governance (Good). The nursery demonstrates particular strengths in outdoor learning, physical development, risk assessment, and staff-child relationships. The single area for improvement identified by the inspector concerns parent engagement systems: while parents are very satisfied, the current mechanisms for sharing curriculum information and home-learning strategies are not fully embedded, meaning parents do not consistently know how to extend their children's learning at home.
