Broughton Cottage Day Nursery

Broughton (Sevenoaks) received a 'Good' rating across all four legacy framework areas (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management) during its first routine inspection in December 2021. This analysis maps the legacy framework to the November 2025 seven-area structure: Safeguarding is 'Met' with effective arrangements; Inclusion, Curriculum and Teaching, Achievement, Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines, and Welfare/Well-being are all graded 'Good' (mapped to Expected Standard, 60-79 range); Leadership and Governance is 'Good' (Expected Standard). The nursery demonstrates strong outdoor provision, positive parent partnerships, and effective safeguarding. Two explicit improvement areas were identified: curriculum intent clarity (particularly for younger children) and staff interaction quality (allowing sufficient thinking time). The setting operates from a converted house with woodland access, serving 47 children aged 0-4 with 20 staff, 14 of whom hold Level 3+ qualifications.
