Millfield Nursery School has demonstrated significant improvement from its previous Inadequate rating (April 2025) to Good (September 2025), representing a substantial turnaround in just five months. The leadership team's reflective approach, strong staff engagement, and commitment to continuous improvement have driven this progress. The nursery excels in communication and language development, behaviour management, emotional support, and partnerships with parents. The inspection was conducted under the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management), all graded Good. These have been mapped to the November 2025 7-area framework: Safeguarding (Met), Inclusion (Good/75), Curriculum and Teaching (Good/75), Achievement (Good/75), Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines (Good/75), Welfare/Well-being (Good/75), and Leadership/Governance (Good/75). The single area for improvement identified by the inspector is extending children's learning through greater use of recall prompts and scaffolding to help children expand on prior knowledge.
