The Grove Nursery and Preschool was inspected on 19 February 2020 under the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management), all graded as Good. The setting has declined from Outstanding at the previous inspection (April 2016). This analysis maps the legacy framework to the November 2025 7-area structure: Safeguarding is Met; Inclusion, Curriculum and Teaching, Achievement, Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines, and Welfare/Well-being are all mapped to Good (70-79 range); Leadership and Governance is also Good. The inspector identified two key areas for improvement: strengthening monitoring to raise teaching quality, and ensuring group activities consistently provide high-level support and challenge. The setting demonstrates strong safeguarding, positive relationships, and good behaviour management, but lacks consistency in teaching quality, particularly among relief staff, and has limited outdoor space requiring compensatory trips to local parks.
