The Old Station Nursery – Tressillian Road

The Old Station Nursery has improved significantly from 'Requires Improvement' at the previous inspection (September 2023) to 'Good' at this inspection (August 2024). The setting demonstrates strong leadership, effective parent partnerships, and good progress across all areas of learning. Staff have successfully revised the curriculum to include practical life skills such as cooking and planting. However, two specific areas require targeted development: (1) inconsistent delivery of planned learning activities by some staff, with unclear understanding of learning intentions, and (2) limited emotional regulation strategies for older children managing minor disagreements. This analysis maps the legacy 4-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management) to the November 2025 7-area structure: Quality of Education aligns with Curriculum & Teaching and Achievement; Behaviour & Attitudes maps to Behaviour/Attitudes/Routines; Personal Development aligns with Inclusion and Welfare/Well-being; Leadership & Management maps to Leadership/Governance. Safeguarding remains effective and Met. The nursery is well-positioned for further improvement with targeted staff development and enhanced emotional regulation support.
