Toadhall Nursery - Ottershaw

Toad Hall Nursery Ottershaw was inspected on 11 May 2023 under the legacy four-area framework (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management), with all areas graded 'Good' and safeguarding arrangements deemed effective. This analysis maps the legacy framework to the November 2025 seven-area structure: Quality of Education maps to Curriculum and Teaching and Achievement; Behaviour and Attitudes maps to Behaviour, Attitudes and Establishing Routines; Personal Development maps to Inclusion and Children's Welfare and Well-being; Leadership and Management maps to Leadership and Governance. The nursery demonstrates strong foundations in safeguarding, staff well-being, and early identification of children's additional needs. Two explicit improvement areas were identified: supporting staff to build deeper thinking skills in older children, and organising daily routines to reduce waiting times between activities. The setting operates effectively despite recent staffing challenges, with consistent use of agency staff and rigorous induction processes maintaining quality.
